Is Snapchat Exploiting Creators' Dreams? My Experience as a Lens Creator
Hello everyone,
I'm a French lens creator who's been actively contributing to Snapchat with high-quality filters that have garnered significant user appreciation. One of my lenses even achieved over 8 million views. Despite this success, I've received no financial reward for my work. This has led me to question the fairness of Snapchat's treatment of its creators.
Snapchat and similar platforms often promote the idea that anyone can turn their creativity into a sustainable income. They make it seem like with enough hard work and talent, one can succeed. However, my experience tells a different story. Despite creating numerous popular lenses, I haven't seen any financial benefit. It feels like Snapchat is exploiting the dreams and hard work of artists and developers, making us believe that it's possible to earn a living when, in reality, it seems unattainable, even when doing everything right.
Is this fair? Shouldn't platforms like Snapchat provide more transparency and equitable opportunities for creators?
I'm curious to know if other creators have had similar experiences. How do you feel about the way Snapchat handles the monetization and recognition of our work? Is there anything we can do collectively to push for change?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
