How to use the Fur resource?
Hey. I've been searching the web and couldn't find any written tutorial about using fur, and no youtube video. That's surprising.
There's no official fur asset the is nice, but I cannot control it. Hairs point up. I want gravity, and movement, like in the hair template example.
And the official grass and fur resource, I just can't understand how to use it. I tried applying the materials to meshes, but that has no effect. And there's and an object called _PLACE_IN_OBJECT_PANEL that does display grass and fur, but it's useless because it just has a default mesh.
So, any clue on how to make a fury mesh?

Well hair is not exactly mesh. Its A component. You need to install Grass and Fur from asset.
This are the steps might help you with hair component.

That´s progress. Thanks for the details.
So, I can create a ball of hair (gr5 is like a ball). But it seems like hair can only be applied to one of those pre-existing meshes with weird names (gr2, gr3, gr4_1, gr5). I tried creating different meshes but none is accepted as a Hair Data parameter.
I've also tried applying one "ball" to a different part of a body mesh, like in the cactus example. But it goes wild in a second.
Do you have any other advice? I'd just love to apply this to a body or random mesh.

Try this.
Go to Asset Library > Search for Fur Material
Objects Panal > Add Full Body Mesh > Add Fur Material to the Body > tweak with Node (dont ask me I hardly understand nodes.)
And you will get something like this.

Sure, but that's exactly my starting point if you see my first message. It doesn't have gravity and all. It's not really controllable.
I want to do things like this:

I did see such lens made by some guy the only problem was it was quite laggy on mobile devices.

I gave it a second try, and actually, the material is not that bad. I like it. It's just limited in the options.

If anybody is curious, there's also another asset called Mane Fur that's nice. Still lacks of gravity, and it's not easy to have decent long hair, but I've been experimenting with it and I like it.
Tip: you can use several meshes to compose different colors. Maybe there's also a way to do this with the materials editor, but I didn't have time to research that.
