External render mesh is not supporting ear geometry

If I download the mesh: "Face Mesh with Skull 3D Model and Ears" from https://docs.snap.com/ and want to use it as an external mesh in the face mesh, I still get the message "External render mesh is not supporting ear geometry". Isn't that exactly what "Face Mesh with Skull 3D Model and Ears" is intended for?
